To be open among other things means to realize the truth about something or to make aware of new ideas or experience.

Approachable, receptive, accessible and exposed are all substitutes for the word “Open “

Matthew 10:16; Behold, I send you forth as sheep in the midst of wolves: be therefore wise as serpents and harmless as doves.

This portion is both weighty and multi faceted in denotation.

First off, The contradictory analogies as regards the animals here has more to it.

Why can’t we be wise and harmless as sheep’s since God is “sending us forth as sheep”?

Why is God goading us to be serpents when that was the first beast God cursed?

We understand the part of a dove because it is such a “sweet bird”. But serpents and doves partnership don’t even strike a chord .

Why does God seem to be confusing us?

Because he understands we have to be open to functioning in different dimensions and not be scripted.

Fun fact : A sheep is not a free thinking animal and they always require a shepherd (Spiritual leader in this paradigm) to navigate through their lives.

And God understands perfectly that living your life as a sheep even when you are, might just not be enough to reach your potential and even sustain that momentum.
