I’M THE KING OF THE BIRDS, I’M LARGER THAN LIFE, I’M THE EAGLE!
‘Eagles are admired all over the world as living symbols of power, freedom, and transcendence’
Eagles are large, powerfully built birds of prey with heavy heads and beaks.
Eagles can be divided broadly into four groups; sea eagles, booted eagles, snake eagles and giant forest eagles.
Due to the size and power of many eagle species, they are ranked at the top of the food chain as apex predators in the avian world.
The eagle is a common form in the Anglican tradition, often used to support the Bible because of the symbolism of spreading the gospel over the world. Additional symbolic meanings for “eagle” include the pronouncements to the Israelites in Exodus 19:4; Psalms 103:5 and Isaiah 40:31.
What makes the King of the bird’s worthy of emulation? How can the traits of these larger than life creature spur humans to success?
· EAGLES NORMALLY BUILD THEIR NESTS IN TALL TREES OR ON HIGH CLIFFS. MANY SPECIES LAY TWO EGGS, BUT THE OLDER, LARGER CHICK FREQUENTLY KILLS ITS YOUNGER SIBLING ONCE IT HAS HATCHED. THE PARENTS TAKE NO ACTION TO STOP THE KILLING.
In the animal kingdom, Competition is a given talk more of Humans.
Unhealthy or not, Intentional or not, Consciously or not, Competition is going to remain a standard procedure till the end of time.
So the more in tune you are with your ‘competitors’, the better your chances of survival are. Remember it is ‘Survival of the fittest’ Szn
· IT HAS BEEN OBSERVED THAT MOST BIRDS OF PREY LOOK BACK OVER THEIR SHOULDERS BEFORE STRIKING PREY (OR SHORTLY THEREAFTER) BUT NOT THE EAGLES.
Unmistakable confidence is what is. The self-assuredness in their hunting skills and expertise and general anatomy is what makes the Eagle standout.
Sometimes hesitance blurts out unconfidence. And to push up the ladder of success, you would need to rid of every form of hesitance and like that saying ‘put on the armor of confidence’ and go kill it!
· BALD EAGLES TEND TO PAIR UP FOR LIFE AND THEY SHARE PARENTING DUTIES: THE MALE AND THE FEMALE TAKE TURNS INCUBATING THE EGGS, AND THEY BOTH FEED THEIR YOUNG.
The male and female work on the nest together, and this quality time helps them cement their lifelong bond.
It is noteworthy to state that the Eagle practices monogamy and stay put with the same partner for life. This importance of family and bonding cannot be overemphasized.
· MOST EAGLES GRAB PREY WITHOUT LANDING AND TAKE FLIGHT WITH IT, SO THE PREY CAN BE CARRIED TO A PERCH AND TORN APART
Spontaneity is an under-valued life skill. To be able to move with an unparalleled level of impulsiveness is something only a few have been able understand and master effectively.
· THE BALD EAGLE IS NOTED FOR HAVING FLOWN WITH THE HEAVIEST LOAD VERIFIED TO BE CARRIED BY ANY FLYING BIRD, SINCE ONE EAGLE FLEW WITH A 6.8 KG (15 LB) MULE DEER FAWN
No task is too daunting for this bird which is what has earned it the tag of ‘larger than life’
Let no capacity push you into tremors, yes it is okay to admit you got a herculean task in front of you, but have a firm resolve that although this task might be overwhelming you would push through regardless.
· SIGHT IS THE STRONGEST OF ALL EAGLE SENSES. THE EYES ARE LARGE, CAN TAKE UP ALMOST 50% OF THE HEAD, AND CAN WEIGH THE SAME AMOUNT AS A HUMAN EYE. AN EAGLES VISION IS 4–5 TIMES BETTER THAN THAT OF A HUMAN
Eagle eyes are angled 30 degrees away from center of the face, which gives eagles a greater field of view. Eagles can see five basic colors to our three, and can detect UV light.
Eagles’ eyes are extremely powerful. It is estimated that the martial eagle whose eye is more than twice as long as a human eye, has a visual acuity 3.0 to 3.6 times that of humans. This acuity enables eagles to spot potential prey from a very long distance.
The term ‘Eagle eyes’ is not far-fetched. Even the insignia of the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) — Nigeria law enforcement agency saddled with the responsibility of investigating financial crimes is the Eagle.
With all these said — Nothing beats a man or woman with vision!
· EAGLES EAT A LOT OF FISH — BUT THEY DON’T ALWAYS CATCH THEM THEMSELVES. THEY’VE PERFECTED THE ART OF STEALING FISH FROM OTHER BIRDS CHASING THEM DOWN UNTIL THEY DROP THEIR PREY.
This trait teaches us something’s — Persistence and knowing that power can always be upset.
Having the mindset that although others might be in the upper echelon of power, you can still shake things, you can still ruffle the status-quo irrespective of what the current situation might be.
