THE SHARK; CHEERS TO THE OUTLASTING APEX PREDATOR WITH INCREDIBLE SENSE(S)

The word "Shark" emanates from Dutch word ‘schurk’, which loosely translates to “villain” or “scoundrel".

Sharks are a group of elasmobranch fish characterized by a cartilaginous skeleton, five to seven gill slits on the sides of the head, and pectoral fins that are not fused to the head.

Based on fossil scales found in Australia and the United States, Scientists hypothesize sharks first appeared in the ocean around 455 million years ago.

Sharks are found in all seas. They generally do not live in fresh water, with a few exceptions, they also have "dermal denticles," or tooth-like scales on their exterior. Each whale shark’s spot pattern is unique as a fingerprint.

Most sharks are "cold-blooded”, meaning that their internal body temperature matches that of their ambient environment.

Contrary to popular belief, only a few sharks are dangerous to humans. To help avoid an unprovoked attack, humans should not wear jewelry or metal that is shiny and refrain from splashing around too much.

So what is to learn from one of the oldest creatures to ever grace the earth? What can we emulate from this fish?

SHARKS SWIM AT AN AVERAGE SPEED OF 8 KILOMETRES PER HOUR (5.0 MPH), BUT WHEN FEEDING OR ATTACKING, THE AVERAGE
